iPhone 5 Evernote app problems

I'm having a problem with my EverNote app on my iPhone 5.? All my info is backed up on the Cloud on my iMac, iPad, and MacBook.? Can I delete mobile iPhone app and reinstall without loosing all my infomation?

?

You may want to try rebooting the phone, first.? If that doesn't fix the problem, as long as you do not have any unsync'd notes or changes on your phone, you can delete the app from your phone.? To clarify, do NOT delete the NOTES.? Just the app.? After deleting the app, be sure to reboot before re-installing.?

Friends,

There?s so much to talk about, but let?s pause for a moment to reflect on the genius of that cold open. As in the opening scene of Episode 501, we flash forward to the time around Walt?s 52nd birthday: He has chunky Williamsburg spectacles, a mountain-man mien, and a very large weapon in the trunk of his car. He?s back at the White family home, but the place looks totally different: The pool that once contained plane-crash debris has been drained, the seating area whose landscaping included a lily of the valley plant is now the lip of an improvised skateboard ramp, and the bathroom where he first shaved his head has been trashed. As Walt strides around the house retrieving his precious vial of ricin, we learn beyond a shadow of a doubt that his criminality has been exposed to the world. The living room has been defaced with the word HEISENBERG, and when he calls a cheery ?Hello, Carol? to his former neighbor, it?s not just his scraggly beard and sweat-stained shirt that make her drop her shopping bag, terrified.

At first, I thought the oranges that we saw rolling out of Carol?s shopping bag were a tad too on the nose. After all, they?re The Godfather?s go-to portent of death. But after seeing the rest of this grim, gripping episode, I?m pretty sure they?re Vince Gilligan?s citrus-scented signal that we have moved into the era of consequences.

Walter White may be a scientist, but like a devotee of The Secret, he seems to believe that saying something makes it so. He doesn?t tell Skyler that his cancer is back?apparently he thinks that would affect his ability to fight it?and he only admits that Lydia is a ?former business associate? after Skyler points out that normal people don?t pay to have rental cars pressure-washed. A little later, he struggles to convince Jesse that Mike Ehrmantraut is alive and well and doing crossword puzzles in an undisclosed location. Jesse knows he?s lying, but he?s too traumatized and worn down to argue. Jesse knows that for Walt, ?the story comes first,? so he just parrots the version of events he knows Walt wants to hear and hopes that will shut him up.

Unlike Jesse, though, Hank won?t let Walt get away with murder. No matter how convincingly Walt swears, ?right hand to God,? that he?s just a dying man who runs a car wash, Hank knows that his brother-in-law is a ?lying, two-faced sack of shit.? He knows that Walt betrayed him over and over?and that he?s personally responsible for more than a dozen deaths.

Walt?s friends and family all seem to be suffering from PTSD. Skyler doesn?t contradict Walt?s fantasy narrative of escaping the drug business because her kids? lives will be ruined if he?s found out. Jesse is dissociative, bordering on catatonic, because he can?t get those dead kids out of his head. I wasn?t sure that Hank?s heart would survive the realization that he?d barbequed with Heisenberg, but his time with the file boxes seems to have restored his strength. If I were Hank, I don?t think I?d let Walt make it out of that garage alive, but there are seven episodes to go, and we?ve seen Walt retrieve his ricin, so we know that he does get to exit. But how? I guess we?ll find out next week.

French Gay Rights Group Doesn't Like Homophobic Hashtag, Plans To Sue Twitter

Credit: JoshSemans/wikimediaCredit: JoshSemans/wikimediaA French gay rights group is planning to sue Twitter after a homophobic hashtag was the most trending topic over the weekend in France.

The group, called IDAHO (the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia), wants Twitter to give French authorities information on the users who used the hashtag. The hope is that those who used the hashtag will be prosecuted for violating France?s hate speech laws.

From UPI:

PARIS, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A French gay rights groups said it will sue Twitter after the hashtag "gays must die" became the nation's most popular "trending" topic over the weekend.

A pro-gay French group dubbed the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, or IDAHO, said Monday its members plan to sue Twitter to turn over the information on users who used the hashtag and turn the information over to French authorities to be investigated for allegedly violating France's hate speech laws, TheLocal.fr said.

"We support free expression, and we understand that there are some people who simply don't like gay people, but this is a call for the extermination of the gay community," said Alexander Marcel, a member of IDAHO. "Twitter hasn't deleted a single homophobic tweet, nor removed a single homophobic hashtag from its list of most popular trending terms."

As is noted over at The Daily Dot, this is not the first time that Twitter will have to deal with French hate speech legislation. Last year, a French court ordered the social media site to identify users who tweeted anti-semitic remarks.

Given that the homophobic hashtag was trending it is unlikely that every user who included the hashtag in a tweet is going to be investigated if IDAHO is successful in suing Twitter.?

Drake Breaks Silence Over Amanda Bynes' Twitter Rants

11:11, Thursday, 8 August 2013

Drake has opened up for the first time about Amanda Bynes, discussing the bizarre tweets the actress has written regarding the rapper.

?

The troubled actress first raised eyebrows back in March when she tweeted: "I want @drake to murder my vagina," then labelled the Canadian hip-hop star "ugly."

?

The 27-year-old later apologised to Drake, writing: "I'm sorry about the tweets I said about @drake I didn't mean what I said. I hope to become friends with him instead of smashing him!"

?

?

In an interview with XXL magazine released this week, Drizzy finally spoke about Amanda's outbursts on the micro-blogging site. ? ?

?

He said: "I don?t even know who that is doing that or what that?s about. If that is her, I guess it?s a little weird and disturbing.?

?

Drake added: "It?s obviously a behavioural pattern that is way bigger than me. Whoever is behind it, whether it?s her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going."

Pope on world economy: is he market-friendly or a rebel?

religion

Pope Francis talks with journalists as he flies back Rome following his visit to Brazil July 29, 2013. Pope Francis, in some of the most conciliatory ...

POOL / Reuters

Pope Francis has used his global platform to discuss his views on the world economy.

In a sense, Pope Francis made clear his world views when he wore practical black shoes and a simple black wristwatch to mass ? a decidedly more humble look than his predecessor, who sported red leather shoes and a ruby cross.

Then he rocked Twitter when, as @Pontifex handle, he declared: ?My thoughts turn to all who are unemployed, often as a result of a self-centered mindset bent on profit at any cost.?

Pope Francis, who became pope in 2013, has since made other comments on world economic issues, citing the pitfalls of capitalism, decrying global income inequality and?equating low-wage labor to a form of "slavery."

He's even described the?financial corruption in the church as a "spiritual sickness."

Analysts say Pope Francis?leader of some 1.2 billion Catholics?is not necessarily calling for the demise of free market theory. Rather, he's issuing a strong warning to economic leaders.

"Like many people, he thinks capitalism won't survive unless it decreases income disparity," said George Haley, professor of marketing and international business at the University of New Haven.

"I think it's fair to say he's arguing for a more European version of capitalism going forward, especially after the Great Recession, so there's more of a safety net for people when they need it," Haley said.

Joseph Pastore, a business professor at Pace University believes the pope is focused on equality and justice in economics.

"I don't think he's attacking capitalism or the wealthy, because if he did, that strategy would fail," Pastore said.

Some in the business community have taken notice.

"His comments are of high importance to me," said RohitArora, CEO of Biz2Credit, an online site that connects small-business owners with financing. "The kind of issues he's talking about are too often ignored by religious and business leaders."

Although surprising, the pope's comments on global economics are in line with his beliefs, said Mathew Schmalz, a professor of religious studies at the College of the Holy Cross.

"Being a Jesuit priest and having spent so much time in Argentina as bishop and cardinal had a great effect on him," Schmalz said. "He's seen a lot of poverty close up and raised the issue in Argentina before becoming pope."

Papal statements on social and economic justice are not new. In the past century or so, popes have made their thoughts on the issues known through open letters?what the church calls encyclicals.

In 1891, Pope Leo XIII issued an encyclical that rejected both communism and unrestricted capitalism, while affirming the right to private property. But he also supported the rights of labor to form unions, and the need for some "amelioration of the misery and wretchedness pressing so unjustly on the majority of the working class."

Pope John XXIII issued an encyclical in 1961 backing free market ideas, but said that from a Catholic perspective, "the global economy serves a higher good; if the economy booms, but human dignity suffers, the result is unmistakably evil."

Pope John Paul II, known for his strong anti-communist feelings,?issued an encyclical in 1989 warning capitalist nations against letting the collapse of communism "blind them to the need to repair injustices in their own economic system."

Pope Benedict, whose resignation in February opened the way for Francis to head the church,?issued an encyclical in 2009 that called for a world political body to manage the global economy?as well as for more government regulation to pull the world out of the Great Recession.

(Read more:?Arrested Vatican prelate acted as private banker, document says)

"Pope Francis speaks in continuity with all the popes that spoke about economic issues," said Mary Catherine Sommers, a professor of philosophy at the University of St. Thomas.

"The church doesn't choose economic systems any more than political systems around the world but it does keep an eye on human systems," Sommers said.

Michael Bellafiore, a Jesuit priest and professor of theology at the University of Scranton, said Francis and the church have a role to play in shaping the business world.

"The church's task is to form consciences," Bellafiore said. "As such, corporations, banks, unions, investors all have to rise above their immediate interests and compromise. Pope Francis can promote leadership in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression."

Attacked as socialist

For his comments, Francis has been derided as?a socialist by conservative economists. And not all Catholics share the same enthusiasm for his thoughts.

"Personally, I?m much more market friendly, as was John Paul II," said Bill Donohue, president of the?Catholic League, an anti-defamation group based in New York.

"I certainly applaud him for recognizing that unrestrained capitalism needs more order," Donahoe said. "If he's emphasizing we can't forget the poor, I'm all for that. But if he's leaning toward a more liberation theology, the more socialist model, which I don't think he is, then I'm against it."

"A lot of Catholics won't like what he says about economics," Schmalz said. "That includes the bureaucracy in the Vatican, which tends to be conservative on moral and economic issues."

"He's called for reforms with the Vatican bank and he's rejecting the rich cars and living quarters popes have used in the past," Schmalz said. "But how far he can go with the church remains to be seen."

(Read more:?Pope says Vatican bank must be 'honest and transparent')

Francis likely to keep talking

Whether Francis can influence economic decision-making remains uncertain. Haley, of the University of New Haven, said he could use the full force of the church.

"If Francis is serious about this, he could use the Vatican's diplomatic corps to lobby various governments to come up with plans to deal with the world's economic woes," Haley said.

Unlike other popes, Francis has an advantage others didn't, Pastore said.

"Social media and media in general help him get his message out to a global public and he's being noticed because of that," Pastore said. "But what he needs to do is get folks who are capitalists to join the conversation."

Miranda Devine's plan for community safety ? kill one million dogs

Miranda Devine?s piece on Deeon Higgins ? the two year old who was tragically killed by a relative?s dog in NSW on Sunday ? throws out some pretty horrifying ?solutions? to dog management in Australia;

Pit bull is a term generally used for the American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier and Staffordshire bull terrier. Along with similar breeds, they pose a clear and present danger to humans.
?
Pit bull-type dogs are inherently dangerous.

The horrible death this week of two-year old Deeon Higgins in Deniliquin has to mark the end of the line for dangerous dog breeds as household ?pets?.
?.
It?s time for a ?dog buyback?, similar to John Howard?s gun buyback. There can be an amnesty of a few weeks before the owner of every pit bull, or similar vicious breed, is required to relinquish their dogs to the local council.

Now, lets give Miranda her dues. Sure, she?s not a dog trainer, or behaviorist. She may be a dog owner. She?s an opinion journalist and as such, is entitled to an opinion. But as a journalist, she should also be aware of the facts around what she is proposing.

According to Australian Geographic, and based on national dog registration figures for 2012, the most popular dog breed in our nation is the Staffordshire Terrier (the ?staffy?).

Australian_Geographic_Popular_Dogs

The American Staffordshire Terrier comes in at number seven, while the Rottweiler comes in at number ten.

Australia?s most popular dog breeds (Australian Geographic)
#1 ? Staffordshire Bull Terrier
#2 ? Labrador Retriever
#3 ? German Shepherd
#4 ? King Charles Cavalier
#5 ? Golden Retriever
#6 ? Border Collie
#7 ? American Staffordshire Terrier
#8 ? Poodle (miniature & standard combined)
#9 ? Pug
#10 ? Rottweiler

Also featuring heavily in this mix of popular breeds, but not being able to necessarily be identified, would also be the general ?mutt? ? some lending towards a more staffy appearance, some more ?working? breeds, shepherds, or labradors.

As part of their campaign against ?dangerous? dog breeds, Miranda?s employer The Daily Telegraph produced a graph of the most prolific ?attacking? breeds in NSW.

NSW_Dog_Attacks_2010-11

If we pull the ?bully? type dogs from this list, as is Miranda?s wish, we see?

Staffordshire Bull Terrier ? 74,567 registered (650 attacks)
Staffordshire Bull Terrier X ? 26,783 registered (362 attacks)
American Staffordshire Terrier ? 16,503 registered (252 attacks)
Rottweiler ? 27,560 registered (207 attacks)
Bullmastiff ? 9,521 registered (145 attacks)
Mastiff ? 9,726 registered (140 attacks)
??????????????-
?Bully? style dogs ? 164,660 registered (1,756 attacks)

Meaning just 1% of these so called ?dangerous? breeds are involved in an ?attack? in a year. An ?attack? in NSW according to the New South Wales Division of Local Government, Department of Premier and Cabinet includes any dog who? rushes at, attacks, bites, harasses or chases any person or animal? whether or not any injury is caused to the person or animal.

Maybe killing 100 dogs, to save one dog rushing someone is worth it in Miranda?s mind. Opinion is opinion, okay. But let?s not stop there. Let?s see where this thinking really takes us.

According to The Australian Companion Animal Council?s 2010 Report ?Contribution of the Pet Care Industry to the Australian Economy?, there are 1.1 million registered dogs in NSW.

- 165,000 ish are the dog breeds listed above.
- Conservatively, 50,000 at least would be blends of the above.
- And lets add 50,000 dogs who are the ?lesser? known bully breeds (ie. stocky dogs with short coats and a big head ? Boxers, American Bulldogs, Australian Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, English Bulldogs, Bull Arab and of course ?dogs who look like American Pit Bulls?)

Giving us the need to, in NSW alone, cull ? 265,000 dogs. Or another way ? about 25% of the overall dog population.

The same Australian Companion Animal Council study stated that nationally, there are 3.4 million dogs living in our homes. Killing one in four dogs under Miranda?s ?dog buyback scheme? means a total of ? are you ready Miranda? ? 850,000 healthy, friendly ? but dead ? dogs.

And for what end? Remember those stats on ?attacks? above; this will in actuality only potentially stop 1% of those dogs ever doing something deemed to be an attack- including rushing or chasing without causing injury.

While according to Linda Watson of Murdoch University?

Until the recent tragic death of Ayen Chol, no dog bite related deaths in Victoria have been attributed to a dog identified as a pit bull or pit bull cross.

My ongoing research has found that since 1979, there have been over 33 dog bite related deaths in Australia, 11 of these in Victoria. Only one other dog involved in a death in Australia has previously been described as a pit bull cross dog.

? indicating that despite potentially culling nearly a million dogs, we likely won?t prevent a human death at all.

Of course this is all waxing idiotic. There is no situation whereby our pet loving community would allow one in every four dogs to be killed just for how they look. However, there is a great potential for great harm to be caused to our dog laws on the back of such media hype.

Widespread culling ? and the media outlets who salivate over it ? may get eyeballs and outrage, but they don?t save the lives of children. In fact, they contribute to harm us all. Continuing to look at ?breed? as the cause of dog bite incidents directs our scarce animal management dollars into programs and services which fail to make the community safer. Seizing healthy, friendly dogs at great cost, while programs which educate caregivers of children, and the tools dog owners need for raising healthy, happy dogs, fall by the wayside.

Everyone wants to see truly dangerous dogs kept from harming anyone the community. But unsurprisingly, killing hundreds, thousands or even a million healthy, friendly dogs doesn?t make that desire a reality.

The UPS Store to offer 3D printing service in select San Diego locations (video)

DNP UPS to offer 3D printing in select San Diego stores video

Today, The UPS Store announced its plan to bring 3D printing services to the masses. The shipping company will soon roll out Stratasys Uprint SE Plus printers to 6 locations in San Diego to test out the new service; it'll be aimed at small businesses, start-ups and retail customers in need of a professional grade model to produce things like prototypes and artistic renderings. At $20,900 a pop, Stratasys printers aren't exactly the kind of gadget you'd purchase for home use, so their availability at UPS stores is a pretty major step towards making high quality 3D printing an accessible option for the common man. Though the company is starting small, it hopes to expand the service nationwide, provided that the San Diego experiment proves successful. For more info, check out the video after the break.

Mexico opposition party seeks legislation for Pemex to sell shares

Mexico?s opposition National Action Party sent Congress a bill Thursday to change the constitution and pave the way for Petroleos Mexicanos to sell shares.

The changes would require additional legislation to enable a ?small? share sale, said Salvador Vega, the party?s top member on the Senate Energy Committee. The proposal would also break the monopoly on electricity generation and distribution held by state power company Comision Federal de Electricidad, or CFE, he said.

The PAN is proposing the most ?audacious? changes in Mexico?s energy industry since 1938, when Mexico expropriated assets from U.K. and U.S. companies and changed its constitution to assert control over its energy resources, Vega said. The proposal may go beyond that of President Enrique Pena Nieto who last month declined to say whether he?ll push to change the constitution and has promised to ?modernize, not privatize? Pemex.

??We?re looking for a way to democratize Pemex, including listing small amounts of shares,? Vega said today in a telephone interview from Mexico City. ?We?re also contemplating an opening for the electric sector.?

?The PAN?s announcement preempts the energy proposal expected from Pena Nieto?s Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI. That plan will be presented within days, David Penchyna, the head of the Senate Energy Committee and a member of the PRI, said in an interview with Radio Formula.

?The peso briefly pared its loss after Vega?s comments and erased it after the U.S. Federal Reserve said it will maintain its $85 billion in monthly bond purchases. The peso was little changed at 12.7641 per U.S. dollar at 1:55 p.m. in Mexico City.

?This isn?t the first time the PAN has thought about trying to give Pemex the ability to sell shares. In 2011, then President Felipe Calderon decided against an energy bill that would have included selling shares of Pemex after initially saying such a sale ?could be an alternative.?

?The PAN?s proposal could also face opposition from the Democratic Revolution Party, or PRD, the nation?s third-biggest party. Jesus Zambrano, the PRD?s president, has promised that the party will oppose any drive that it sees as privatization.

?Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the party?s candidate who came in second to Pena Nieto in last year?s presidential election, said he?ll call supporters to Mexico City?s Zocalo, or main square, in early September to rally against the expected energy overhaul proposals.

??My sense is that the PAN does want to go further on energy reform, and by putting these types of topics into the debate are ensuring that a number of options are considered,? Eric Farnsworth, head of the Washington office of the Council of the Americas, said in a telephone interview. ?Whether or not it?s a bridge too far is something the Mexican people would obviously have to decide.?

?When asked about the possibility of a share sale at a news conference Thursday,? PAN lawmaker Ruben Camarillo said the proposal would call for annual Congressional approval of Pemex?s debt levels and whether parts of its funding would come from a share offering.

?Lawmakers will have an ?extensive debate? to decide how much funding will come from debt, the hybrid securities known as Citizen Bonds, or shares, Camarillo said. The amendments to articles 25, 27, and 28 won?t address the details for those changes, and they will be attended to in secondary laws, he said.

?Camarillo said that his party also wants to remove the Pemex union from the company board, where workers currently hold five of the 15 seats of the board.

Syria's Assad lauds his army, says he will win war

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) ? The Syrian president has lauded his military troops, saying they are fighting the "fiercest" war but that he is confident they will win in the country's conflict.

Bashar Assad's comments came in a statement marking Syria's Army Day on Thursday.

Assad says: "Had we in Syria not been confident of victory, we wouldn't" have been able to resist" for over two years.

More than 100,000 people have been killed since the uprising against the Assad family's four-decade rule began in March 2011. The revolt later escalated into a civil war, which has uprooted millions of people from their homes.

Assad's forces have been making significant gains against the rebels on several key fronts recently, mostly in the central province of Homs and near the capital Damascus.
